What is the advertised “UCANDO” ?

  • It’s a scheme comprised of Maths Makes Sense, AA mental maths interactive and Nessy Reading / Spelling System. Intended for struggling learners of most ages, children might be in small groups (4 max) where they work  at their own pace, level and subject.

How often can I talk to you about my child?

  • You are very welcome to come in to see me during the last ten muinutes of your child’s lesson or to ring me (after 9 pm). Most parents know the standard of tuition I provide so I do not see them very often !

Is it correct some children travel a long distance to be tutored by you ?

  • Hollingsworth near Bolton is the furthest at the moment. I have tutored children from Marple, Offerton,  Stockport, Buxton, Congleton, Alsager and all surrounding areas as well as from Macclesfield itself.

Why are you not an Agency ?

  • I do the tuition myself so I am in total control of the high standard and quality of teaching offered to those I work with.

Is it correct you tutor at your address not at the child’s home?

  • I used to do home tuition but it is difficult for a children to concentrate when, for example, friends call; some families do not have a quiet space or siblings distract.  I have equipped rooms specially designated to tutor in – minimal interruptions!

Are you pleased when children stay with you for a long time ?

  • Certainly – children stay for as long as they need,  some for all their school years from primary through to GCSE; many come for extra help prior to exams and others stay until they feel confident enough to cope without extra support. It is very rewarding to tutor siblings or members of the same family in turn.  Most of my business comes from referrals.

Why are your hourly prices so reasonable?

  • I believe that extra help should be available to those who need it, not just to those who can afford it (currently £15 per hour).  I guarantee not to raise the price during the period a child is tutored in their time slot . (Prices for screening available on enquiry.)

What happens if a child misses  their lesson and how do I pay?

  • All missed lessons are charged at the normal hourly rate but I offer to fit in the missed lesson at another mutually convenient time. Most parents prefer to pay weekly on the lesson. Some pay monthly in advance.  All cheques must be backed by a banker’s guarantee card.

I really want to give my child/children the best chance to succeed.
